The flights are scheduled, but why would TG operate 5 times a week to a country whose entire population is barely 30% of Bangkok alone?

Possibly, we may see SAS ceasing their service CPH-BKK and ferry those interested to Arlanda (Oslo airport) and then to BKK.

A cost cutting measure. TG can deliver what Indian call centres do for western companies.

That's my reading of the news.

I doubt very much that SAS would be cancelling their services out of Copenhagen, on the contrary they have recently cut flights out of Stockholm and added an extra flight out of Copenhagen. Copenhagen is their main hub and their strategy is now to concentrate on flights out of there. And just about every flight CPH-BKK is completely full all year round.

You also have your cities and airports mixed up, Arlanda is the airport in Stockholm, Sweden.

My bad, Fornebu was the airport I've been to back in 80s.

I think that we should consider that the reason for this 'new route' is utilisation of a few redundant aircrafts that Thai Airways has standing around at the moment, due to the cancellation of the BKK - JFK route? :) In what appears to be a lucrative market segment.

Perhaps, but redundant or not, not much use to fly the route if very little demand. I give the route 4 months.

Gardemoen Airport now serves Oslo, about 30 miles north of the city. :)
