In Carrefour they sell tire pumps that run off a 12V supply. I bought one for less than 500B and it was useless, so I got my money back the next day.

Do these pumps work? How long do they take to pump tires up Vs the larger compressors at the gas stations? Some are costing up to 1500B.

Considering the size of the 12V compressor vs the size of the garage's compressor - you bet it will take a long time. That being said, I picked up a 12V jobby from Home Pro a few months ago for 1,000 baht. The guage that's on it is worthless, of course, but it includes a built-in 12V flashlight (useful, believe it or not). And it works fairly quickly...about 2 minutes to go from 25 psi to 36. That's about 10 minutes to do a fairly major top-up. A couple of psi top-up takes mere seconds. I always carry one in my toolbox.

I bought one on offer 180 odd baht Tesco used it once it packed up, I took it apart it was the cheapest of cheap many joints dry soldered had broken there wa s no cable clamb on any of the cables, I resoldered all joints tied a knot in the cable inside the unit to act as a cable clamp and put a switch in the cable as it works the second you stuff it in the cigarette lighter. Fine now

They are handy as often you can use them on he road to pump up the tyre enough to get to the town withot changing the wheel. Remember to allways keep the motor running when using them. You get a much highrer voltage through the cigarette lighter socket and the difference is noticeable with them. Just do not expect instant fills like in the gas station.

used to have one, but found it to be crap.

Worked but oh so slow!

And after a total of maybe 1 hour of pumping (not that long considering how slow it works) it started to lose power, guess cilinder and piston wore out, even on a closed tube it couldn't get over a few PSI :)

Now have a double barrel foot pump, just a few strokes needed to top of a few PSI, even a major top up is not too exhausting.

900 Baht for a good quality one, lasts a lifetime.

I have one, bought it in macro on the 36 near Rayong for about 280b, keep under back seat, I have had it about 4 years used it many times, bit cheap and crappy makes a lot of noise but eventually gets job done not that long about 15 mins to go from 10 to 30psi on my vigo 4x4, well worth the 280b.

Keep on trucking

You get what you pay for. Cheap charlies buy the cheapest ones and that's tha one who wil broke in the first day. Basicly they are all made in f.. China. But i bought one for 1500 Baht 3 years ago and it works perfect until today. I changed the cigarette lighter plug with 2 battery climps, so i can connect directly on the battery. I also extended the cable from 5 to 10 meter. 5 Meter is sometime not enought for larger cars. The gauge shows not exactly how mucht pressure is in the tire, but i'm satisfied with this pump as i use and keep it only for emergency cases.
