Just tried to set a system restore point manually only to realize System Restore does not start, no matter what I try.

Help is much appreciated

Thx

Addition: system restore wont start in safe mode neither.

In "normal mode" on click System Restore, nothing happens.

no error message, no cursor loading display. Simply dead!

Restore service is running!

250 GB free space are left on my C drive

Today I have purchased Sandboxie and I am running all browsers, Skype, Messenger in it.

AVAST 4.8 paid

Comodo Firewall

BOClean

are running

Any solution? Reinstall Sys restore?

Seems to be that some system files are damaged which could be from an infection!

A solution is an Repair-Installation.

The way to do that you'll need the CD you original installed from. Boot from that CD, ignore the first offer of Repair, aftger the EULA Screen should come the 2. option for to repair. Use that option by hit R. Windows will start to delete some files and start a installation but not loosing settings, programs and data. Upgrades done after the initial installation will be loosed and need to upgrade again.

Cheers

I've turned off system Restore and use ERUNT instead. This program makes a backup of the registry, much like Win 9x did. It's saved me a few times already.
