All,

I have a Non-Imm Multilple Entry 'O' Visa issued from Hull issued April 08. I did a trip to Malaysia, just before it expired and got another 90 days, taking me to 3rd July 09. So, I would have had 15 months'ish out of it.

Can I do a border run, to say Mai Sai and get any further extension at beginning of July? Even if it is just a tourist visa? If so, how long would a tourist visa be valid for? Or is that it all over, I have to leave, full stop!

I am going to UK at end of July and will apply for a new Non-Imm 'O' visa at that time.

Any advice appreciated.

You can only obtain 15 days on a border crossing (visa exempt entry). If you fly and return by air you would get 30 days. You can obtain a tourist visa for a 60 day stay at a Consulate in Laos/Cambodia or Malaysia but it will require an overnight stay and the cost of visa(s).

Go to Vientiane and get a double entry tourist visa before June 4th for free.

Enter Thailand with 60 day stamp extend it with 30 days at immigration.

Do a border run and activate your second entry and extend it later.

60+30+60+30=180 days

Cost:

Visa: Free

Extensions: 1900*2= 3800 baht

Top replies, thanks a lot, very thorough and informative answers.

One question on the 60 day tourist visa at Vientiane, what documentation am I likely to need apart from myself and my passport?

Application form, 2 photos and a copy of your passport photo page. Thai is all that's needed besides your passport.

Hi All,

Just back for a bit of advice.

Obviously missed out on free visa!

Ok, I need to leave at end of July/beginning Aug to UK (at which time I will get a new 1 Yr Non Multi O Visa) but really can't be bothered with 2 visa runs to Mai Sae!

So looking at Vientiane...would I be able to get a 60 day tourist entry visa? That would be perfect.

What is the cost and what documentation is required....just 2 photo's and the standard visa application form?

Also, is it relatively straightforward in Vientiane, is the embassy close to border? Can I drive car through or not recommended?

As always, all advice appreciated!

You can get a single entry in Vientiane without any problem. Just a copy of your passport photo page, photos and applicatin.

It't very difficult to take a car into Laos. It would be best to park it and take the bus across the bridge.

You would get visa on arrival for Laos that costs 1500 baht.

See the last few pages for up to date info on Vientiane visa runs. If you go back from the last page a ways you will find info on parking, hotels and etc.. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Latest-Repor...on-t189375.html
