Having some trouble discussing " low sodium" food options with the family.

Anyone know the Thai script for this term, or is there another term I should use?

I'm specifically looking to find out if "Salt Substitute" is available in Thailand, so that term translated would be helpful as well. My Father in law has been told to reduce his salt intake, and I will ship him some of the dozens of varieties found here in the U.S. if they can't find any.

Ou sincere thanks to the ever helpful scholars here at Thaivisa, for their time and patience :)

One of the sets of practices mentioned in a website regarding staying healthy has the following:

". . . eating healthy and hygienic foods, eating foods with low salt content, low sugar content, low-fat foods, and eating lots of vegetables, fruit, and fiber."

In this context the phrase "อาหารเค็มน้อย" (aa-hăan kem nói) means "low salt foods" or "low sodium foods". Let me look further to see if I can find a discussion of "salt substitute".

we usually refer to sodium as cooking salt, yeh? so "low sodium" should be "เกลือต่ำ" or "เกลือน้อย".

Here is the context in which the term "salt substitute" was used:

"When you use a salt substitute don't think that it is completely free of sodium. This product is composed in part of a small amount of real sodium as well other substances. If you use too much of (a sodium substitute) you will be ingesting a fairly large sodium as if (you had used salt itself)."
