A couple who have fled New Zealand after millions of dollars were accidentally transferred into their bank account are believed to be in Hong Kong, NZ police said on Friday.

The couple left New Zealand after taking NZ$3.8 million dollars (US$2.3 million) from a Westpac bank account after being mistakenly given a $10 million dollar overdraft instead of $100,000 .

The New Zealand Herald reported that the woman also has her daughter and sister with her.

A bank error in my favour would be nice at this moment in time. Think I'd let it sit there for a bit before wogging it though :)

They'll be escaping to Thailand, soon, I'm sure. What they should really do is escape to the jungle in Cambodia. They won't get far, I fear.

Run forest run...... hope they make it...get into Thailand and do a backpacker circuit via the Hilton Hotel club class in every nakon nowhere...

good luck to them

China is the destination apparently. They'll get away with it as long as they can find 2-3 Chinese bankers who will accept bribes to change their names a bit, then... lost in the shuffle of Chinese folks.

best strategy is to sit on the money for several years... get another's ID... trade the money slowly after that in exchange booths.

all-in in one shots likely see you getting extorted/caught/killed.

Not Thailand related, despite being reported in the Bangkok Post. If they end up in thailand let me know and I will gladly reopen and move to News.
