krading Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Avg has detected a trojan in WINDOWS\system32\Startup.cpl on my computer. I googled it but found nothing in english that would help me get rid of it. AVG moves it to the vault but next day it is there again. What is it and how can I remove it? Thanks in advance.
webfact Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 (edited) A .cpl file indicated (under normal circumstances) a control panel extension file. There are many in that directory with .cpl extension If your AV has not quarantined or deleted that file already, right click it and check properties. You find a lot of information about startup.cpl when you click the link http://www.geocities.com/thestarman3/avt/TrojFree.html Edited May 24, 2009 by webfact
beano2274 Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 check this out, maybe it can help http://www.pctools.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-27161.html
krading Posted May 24, 2009 Author Posted May 24, 2009 It was quarantined when I noticed it and now I've emptied the vault. If it appears on next start-up what do you suggest. Or how do I find it before I run AVG?
krading Posted May 24, 2009 Author Posted May 24, 2009 I checked out the link and will try to delete as suggested. Thanks for that.
