Govt to spend Bt63 billion to develop deep South in four-year plan

PATTANI: -- Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban said Friday that the government would spend about Bt63 billion to develop the deep South in the four-year development plan starting this year.

He was speaking to government officials after he was briefed on the latest situation in the deep South at the Internal Security Operations Command Region 4.

Suthep said the development project is aimed at increasing income for the local people.

The development projects include developments of deserted farmland.

Local people would also encourage to grow palm trees and the Energy Ministry would set up biodiesel plants from palm oil, Suthep said.

Given the ornery nature of the beast, one can only wonder if any amount of money will change that mind-set. I have personally had some exposure to them, and am simply floored by their inability to think inside the box, let alone outside the box.

One is required to be an incredibly free-ranging thinker these days, if one is simply to remain in step with society, as it outstrips itself and overtakes yesterdays ideas like day-old donuts. Being ahead of the curve can be an incredibly daunting task.

I wish everyone much success. Dont hold your breath.
