Advice On 37 Day Stay In Thailand, Laos

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am visiting Thailand soon for 37 days and I'm not sure what to do regarding Visa option. I arrive at Bangkok and head up to Chiang Mai, I then want to pop over to Laos then back into Thailand to the beaches. I'm not sure what to do regarding VISAS as I will probably be entering LAOS after day 10 and coming back into Thailand on day 15.

Help!!

Thanks

ben

When you arrive by air you get 30 days and if by land you get 15 days.

Also you will need to show a ticket out of thailand within 30 days to the airline at check in or they may not allow you to board the flight.

Unless you plan on flying to Laos. You should get a 2 entry tourist visa. Or a single entry and then a re-entry permit at immigration here for your trip to Laos.

If I get a single entry tourist visa and then travel to Laos by road and re-enter by land then I will only get 15 days which is not enough.

However if I get a single entry tourist visa and then travel to Laos by road and re-enter by air (Luang Prabang to Bangkok) then will I get 30 days?

Thanks

Any flight into the country gets you 30 days. It does not matter how you left the country.

You could get a single entry as I said before and get a re-entry permit. If you do it that way you get a permit to stay when you re-enter that is the same as the one you got when you first entered with the tourist visa.

Thanks for the fast response and pardon my ignorance for being a bit thick! But is there a cost for a re-entry permit? And where do I get it from?

1,000 Baht. Get from Immigration Office in Thailand.

You do not say when you are coming but Tourist Visas are free if you apply before June 4th. Try and get a Double.

You get it at immigration here and the cost is 1000 baht.

So I assume that if I travel to Laos by land and re-enter by Thailand by air then I do not need a re-entry permit as this will give me another 30 days?

Correct . You will need a Visa to enter Thailand the first time though.

Correct

If 30 days are all you need and your next flight out of the country is within 30 days.
