Possibility Of My Moroccan Wife And Child Stay In The Country

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I am a UK national considering a job offer as a teacher in Bangkok due to begin in August.

My wife is a Moroccan passort holder and is pregnant. The baby is due in November.

My question is how long will she be permitted in a 12 month period to stay in the country? Does anybody know? I know she will get a 90 day visa as a tourist but of course I want her to live with me in BKK.

I have emailed the Thai embassy in London and the British embassy in Bangkok but have had no reply!!

Help!!!

Hope to hear from somebody who can shed light on this !!!

When get the job, work permit and extension of stay she can also get an extension for 1 year as your dependent.

If you are not here when you get the job and are able to get a non immigrant B before traveling she could get a non immigrant O visa.

She could also get a tourist visa and possibly do a change of visa status to get the extension. If not then she would have to go to a nearby consulate and get a non-o visa.

Thanks for your advice. Much appreciated :) .

whatever visa she gets, the 'baby' goes on that visa as well untill the age of 18. Education visa maybe 30,000 baht, and can learn thai at the same time

The age is 20 not 18.

It will be a separate visa/extension. It will be a visa/extension based upon the fathers as his dependent because he is the one that is working.

It will mean registering the childs birth at the embassy/consulate and getting a passport. Then taking the child out of the country showing the birth certificate and passport to immigration upon departure.

Then getting a non-o visa for the baby at a Thai embassy or consulate and then after returning getting an extension.

Please it's not sure if the Immigration will give her 90 days. Some countries are on the so called black list.

The easiest way is to contact the school you will start at. You'll need a Non-B visa and a work permit. The new laws say that you'll need a work permit before they issue a visa. It's a kind of complicated these days....If people are telling you that you won't need one, it's not true. There's a possibility that she'll receive a Non-B too, as your legal wife. Please contact the school for any further information if they can help you. Once in Thailand it might be difficult to get that fixed. Good luck from the Isan.

The question if you need a WP before you can get a visa is a matter of hwere you apply for the visa. While it is true for applying from neighbouring countries, it is not true when applying in the UK.

His wife will not be working and will get a non-O as his accompanying spouse.

Immigratrion does not issue visas. Embassies and consulates issue visas.

There is no such blacklist for countries. Some are only allowed to get visas in their home countries but that is the case many times only for tourist visas. Others are not allowed to get an extension of their tourist visas.

If her gets a visa she will get a non-o visa.
