I was considering that netbook. A couple of things turned me off. First was the price....you can buy a decent laptop for that. Yes the Nvidia card seems cool, but you'll be trying to feed it with an Atom processor. Also, to save power by switching to integrated graphics you have to restart the whole machine--seriously not cool. And since Adobe has their head firmly up their rectum, Flash is not gpu accelerated....thus all Atom based machines perform within each other. The screen is the same old that you find on other netbooks (no 720p love for you there) and it's glossy. While my big laptop is glossy, it's annoying when you're traveling. Battery life is ok, but at only 5 hours there's better out there. No bluetooth or wireless-N also irks.

The pluses are the HDMI out, the fingerprint reader, and the express card slot. However, with the 9300GS not being that good for gaming or really even HD videos (see above comment about the Atom processor), the HDMI is a bit of a luxury. Fingerprint reader is so-so (I've had issues with other fingerprint readers in the past) and the express card slot is hard to find parts for.

Having looked over all the pros and cons, I decided to get the 1000HE. Battery life is ~8 hours just surfing. Wireless-N, Bluetooth, a matte screen and really nice mouse buttons (there's something satisifing about being able to click on the front side of the netbook instead of trying to find the little button on these models). A faster processor (by 60 Mhz baby!) and double the storage capacity for 2/3 the price sealed the deal for me.

HI

Is it the same? there should be wireless on it::: Integrated 802.11a/b/g/N

I can get it cheap

According to that review there's no "N" on the wireless. To be honest, the "N" spec isn't widely supported in routers (although that's changing), however the increased range is a boon.

If you can get a good deal on one of those netbooks, go for it. There's nothing wrong with it (assuming the model you get has wireless "N") other than the price and battery life......if it was closer to the 1000HE in price I could have overlooked the battery life.

I have got a Asus netbook very pleased with them. I bought one of the first 701 4GB models then upgraded to the 1000H XP 10 inch screen models its the bizz for traveling it will do all the things my 15" Toshiba will do OK they will not run some of the power hungry games if your into them things((i am not) 500 Albums of music on there Office Enterprise 2007 and many APPS never had a problem. I upgraded the RAM to 2GB and the Wifi Card to a Itel 5300 for long range hotspots both cheap to do. Plus a external Optical DVD/CD drive.LG GSA-E50N

I use Skype out for calling only 0.012p to call the UK

PS forgot and very good battery life i get on average 5 hours. On the 1000H get more on the 1000HE model 7 hours using normally.

One more thing, I forgot to mention; with some tweaks you can really extend the battery life of a netbook. One thing I do is to store all my videos on a thumbdrive. When I want to watch a movie, it comes off there; the harddrive is set to spin down after 5 minutes. Voila, instant power savings. Another thing to consider is the resolution you're watching at. 1024x600 is overkill for most divx/xvid/x.264 rips. Lower the resolution whilst watching your movie and there's more power savings. Don't try and lower the bpp---can look nasty (although if you don't care, go for it). Also, on a GMA machine there's a setting in the Intel control panel that can save a lot; it's better to put it on maximum quality when surfing youtube, but not really needed when watching dvd rips. A pair of high quality ear buds (if you can stand that type) will save some juice from the amp not having to pump so much energy to the drivers.
