last year oktober I did my first extension non-o based on marriage, for wich I had to proove 40000 income/month>So my question is: can I do my extension this year based on 400000 in the bank? Or does it have to be the same as last year, family income 40000/month?

It can be either 40k income, or 400k in the bank.

The change is that now it is no longer 'family' income, it has to be the income of the person applying for the extension.

Well yes I know this, but I am wondering if they not want me to proove the same as my first extension(40000baht income). Those immigration people have their particular way of thinking.Anyway thanks for the reply

You can change from one option to the other if you want. There is no restriction on doing that. Just remember the money has to be in the bank for 2 monthts (3 at some immigration offices).

I applied for the same kind of ext. last month based on money in the bank. They noticed that I had a WP (which I shouldn't have told them, I realize now) and wanted to see all the documents related to the monthly income option (it apparently didn't matter that my salary was lower than 40.000/m).

The officer told me (his words) that I would have trouble renewing my WP if I didn't show all those documents, which I doubt now because I cannot find anything in my passport extension stamp that distinguishes between 40K/m or 400K in the bank. I don't really understand why he told me that.

So, maybe, next October, they will ask you if you still work and if you do, you'll have to come up with all the paperwork.

If you don't work anymore there won't be a problem.

A work permit is needed if you are working and use tax payments for proof of 40,000 baht per month income. Otherwise it is not required.

I really don't understand your other comments.

If you have continuous extensions you should never have a problem getting another one unless they eliminated them completely and that is very unlikely to happen ever.

If they raised the income or money in the bank requrements you would be grandfathered as they have always done.
