Visa Run Using A Casino Contracted Bus

Recommended Posts

This from a post I found doing a search for casino.

Living in the Sukhumvit area in Bangkok, I opted to take one of the casino buses to the border at Aranyaprathet since they leave from Lumphini Park which is pretty close by. I took a taxi from my apartment and arrived in front of the HSBC building on Rama IV road across from Lumphini Park at 4am. There was a double-decker bus across the street and I verified that it was going to Poipet, then hopped on. The bus left at 4:20am and made a couple quick stops in Bangkok, then went straight to the Market at the Aranyaprathet/Poipet border getting there around 7:20am. I was asked to pay 200 baht for a one-way journey (or 300 baht return).

I have seen the same info in other posts.

There are casino buses that go to the border for 300B return (Thais get it for 100B)

I used to drive to Poipet when ever I needed to cross the border, however since the casinos started, I found it more flexible and less tiring to use the Casino bus transportation. Usually I call them and they pick me up from across the street of my home in Phahlyothin road at 5.15 am and charge me B.200 round trip.

These tour companies buses got paid by the casinos for the feul (and some money per head, which I do not know how much) therfore all Thai customers have to carry their passports for a check at the casino office between Arnyaphratet and the border.

The bus I take will have its first stop daily at the Victory Monument (bus No. 8 stop infront of the hospital) at 5.00 am and will collect his regular customer in his way till he arrive to Min Buri, then continue to the market in Aranyaphratet, with one 15 munites stop in the road for rest.

It depart Aranyaphratet at 3.30 pm daily, along with other tens of buses, back to Bangkok.

All these buses usually collect their customers from major shopping centers, Big Cs or from a designated areas specified by the custome when he call them.

The main stop for these buses are in front of the HSBC building on Rama IV, Big C (Lad Phrao), and the shopping center in Bang Na.

It is easy to be recognized being a double-deckers.

If you could not make it in your way going, try it in the way comming back; when you are in Arnayphratet bus park, check for several buses destinations (as each bus will use deferent rute, though they are from the same tour company), and they will drop you anywhere you want. Take their telephone numbers, in order to call them the night before your next trip (if you become a regular).

However if the bus manager (or driver) have all sits booked by phone, they might not accept you in the bus unless you are a regular casino customer.

But due the numbers of busses runing daily, I really doubt it.

Give it try, it is worth it.

A few things, from my experience.

The 0400 bus from the Lumpini side of the HSBC Bank building, leaves at 0400, not at 0420. You get on, you pay, you sleep, if you're lucky you wake up just before the boarder, one of the great bargains in Thai.

Good luck buying a return ticket. I asked and they said no, "mai mee!"

If you plan to gamble, and/or spend the night, leaving in the early morning is much more preferable than leaving to catch traffic hours in Bangkok. Waiting, waiting, waiting through traffic, through each of the various stops the casino bus makes, my bus made five stops at various points, and as far south as Bang Na... I wouldn't want to drive a bus in Bangkok, especially during rush hour, the next worst thing is sitting in the bus.

These Casinos open 24 hours, and to gamble or not, is completely up to you, nobody will force you to do so, and no one will even notice you unless you are like me (A gambler).

If you are not a regular customer, these buses know that you are not going for the casinos, but as they have vacant seats, they do not mind of taking you.

After departing their main stop, they will not stop again except to pick up the customer who called them over the phone and made an arrangement.

For example, I do not buy a ticket, and I do not have to show anything as all the staff from the drivers to the managers knows me, not to mention, most of the regular customers too.

However from my experience, there was always at least one foreigner among the people on the bus going for his visa run, and most of the time accompanied by his Thai girlfriend.

The fare I stated is for the casinos customer, but even Thai people who are traveling for other purposes, have to pay B.100 more.

Think about it, If you are going to take the government bus, which will take 5 hours to arrive, (I tried it once when I missed my bus) you have to pay over B. 200 per way in addition to B. 80 for a Tok-Tok, from the bus station to the border, so B.300 for round trip including B.100 lunch coupon is still a bargain.

Just done my 4th run and have used the same bus company each time. The buses are parked on Rama 4 across from 990 building next to the main entrance to Lumphini Park. I take the last bus (direction of travel) in the line and it has an orange lotto type ball with a 1 in it on the front window. The bus is blue and white as opposed to prior runs it was orange and white so I guess they are using a different company. If you go near the door there is a lady with short hair and she will ask you, Cambodia, just nod and she will find you a seat.

Try to be there by 5:30am as it leaves at 6:00am, ETA around 8:30am. Bus will stop once around 7:00am for toilet, food and or smoke. When you arrive just follow the crowd and it is about 300m to boarder.

Price is 200Baht return and includes free meal up to 100bht at Grand Diamond casino. Meal is done by voucher (like Tops or other food halls.) just give her 100bht go up to level 3 and pick what you want then when done go to change counter and they will give you 100bht back.

If you go with Thai friend/partner they pay 200bht and 100bht is given back to them when you go to Grand Diamond and pick up your food voucher. Must have ID card and passport or it is no go for them past immigration.

Return time is 4:00pm, Eta Bangkok around 7:00pm/7:30pm but it depends on which day you travel as weekends are quicker return due to less Traffic around BKK.

I will write a more detailed post about staying over night in a Casino and things to avoid for you first timmers.

Also note there are many casino buses at this location, not just 4am. Goes all the way up to 9am and beyond, I believe. But there are less and less buses as the sun rises and rush hour begins, and it therefore becomes more "risky" that another bus may or may not come along to pick up passengers for poipet. :)
