Digital Kitchen Scale

Featured Replies

Well, I checked the horribly over-priced Verasu and found a few flimsy looking, low capacity scales. But I think they just won't cut it. I want to be able to measure ingredients for a few loaves of bread at a time and if it were accurate down to 0.1 grams, that would be optimal.

Of course, I want the world and I want it cheap! I know I can order scientific-grade scales from a few companies in BKK but they're definitely far from cheap.

Any ideas? :)

Cheers folks!

I saw some good ones in CENTRAL(here in Phuket), not too expensive.

Hmm.... I guess I'll have to wait for my next trip. Ordering online would be cool too. :)

2nd hand digital diamond scale? lots of jewellery factories closing down ..

Around Bangkok, Central, Zen, Isetan sell them.

In Chinatown, I've seen a few stores that specialize in scales for retailers. Most are the spring loaded "market" scales, but they do stock electronic scales.

I'm not sure, but it feel I've seen them on one of the roads that parallel Yaoworat. Once in Chinatown, a local retailer could probably point you in the right direction.

Seen some at Robison recently(about three weeks ago) :)

Well thanks for the helpful tips guys. But I really need to be able to order either by phone or internet.

:)

Go to Central's website. Navigate through the catalogs to "Home Basics". On around page 53 they offer a scale for 2,400 baht plus shipping.

I know something about this subject. There is brisk technological progress in this field in recent years. Now you can buy digital KITCHEN scale with accuracy 0.1gram,for 30$;but you will not find them in LOS.Company which market them is called DRETEC,model PS-030 with capacity 300g,and resolution 0.1g.There is one model with capacity 2kg and resolution 0.1g from another company,it has two modes - regular and - "spice mode".Why dontyou buy traditional opium scale instead? It makes nice souvenir.

If LOS finests find digi scale in your home - it will look very bad under some circumstances...and they will not believe you in your story about "oriental spices"!

Curt, that was a very good tip. Thank you. Not a horrible price for a 5kg scale.

borovik, no worries. If the boys in brown do find my powder-covered scale, I'll offer them some "sweets" and send them on their way. :)

The price is comparable to what's around the internet. My only concern would be that I couldn't check it out first. I'm sure it's returnable, but you'll probably eat the shipping.
