One Way Air Ticket To Usa (detroit) For $992 - Ouch!

Featured Replies

Bought my ticket to the USA this week for my annual one month trip back, and watched my budget get blown by the $992 for one way (NWA BKK - Narita - DTW). Didn't have enough cash to buy a round trip but I am not sure how many weeks I'll be staying anyway and there is usually about a $200 penalty for a flight change which would probably eat up the round trip savings.

I used Orbitz.com, but also checked TravelPapa, Expedia and others. Virtually the same prices.

Did I miss a lower price alternative somehow?

Next summer I will try to do things differently. If prices go up much more I will have to wait two years to see my daughter. I don't have many two-year durations left! :)

Can't help you Lop but in 2003 I paid about $600 one way (North Carolina - BKK)

Are you going to eat some White Castles back in Mo Town? :D

best deal I found (RT) was on airfare.com. Also, boots n all travel had a great price. I found an interesting feature of Mobissimo where it will show you the best fare from one region (US) to another (Thailand or Asia). I was looking at flying to France in the fall and found a way cheaper price by going to an alternative city, then connecting with a budget airline to Paris. Might be interesting to look at.

I got my RT ticket from Vegas to BKK (in July, peak season) for just over $900...connecting in SFO.

Thank goodness for accumulated air miles...
