I am a keen, although somewhat eratic golf enthusiast. Ill be in Thailand during October, mainland, southern areas, can anyone reccomend any golf course (s)...

Is it best to take own clubs, or to hire while there? and on that what kind of price are we looking at for 18 hole?

Im only looking to play a max of perhaps 2 rounds, so do not want to go with a tour operator.

while you in the south, Phuket had many good golf courts for about half the cost in US

if you looking for cheap, there are many golf course around the country, Hua hin have many golf course to swing for less than US$15, have a good time.

yeah,and don't forget to hire yourself a cute caddie too...hahaha..

If you think about a new golf trip to Thailand, do not miss the Northern area

- a lot of things to do - the true Thailand (not the fake one of Phuket & Pattaya)

and the cheapest area (2 to 3 time cheaper than Phuket)

some of the best golf in Thailand (Santiburi in ChiangRai for exemple)

I think all of these are public and represent good value for the money. Check out whether a course has "sports day" if you want the lowest prices and are flexible as to the weekday you play.

If you only play about 2 rounds why to travel around with your (heavy) golf bag.?

Most courses do have clubs rent possibilities.

caddy tip between 100 and 200 baht.

Be prepared for a lot of water on the flat courses .

Pak Chong (180 km north-east of BKK) has some hills.

many hotels offer golf day trip but they are rather expensive.

phone the course and ask for opening times (many are closed on monday!).Ask when sport day tariff apply (very cheap) and arrange a private taxi for the part of the day.
