All Mac users are getting updated to Safari 4 and frankly it's amazing. I am surfing at a much higher speed than before, it's almost as if I had a new faster internet connection. I didnt know there was so much room left for improvement. According to tests it's faster than Google Chrome, and _much_ faster than IE or Firefox.

Haven't tried on Windows but if it's anywhere near the Mac experience, I'd definitely recommend. It's free, you can just try it.

I know this was crap when it was in beta, it kept crashing all the time. That's a thing of the past - it has not crashed once. And it's super-duper fast. The "homepage" where it shows you mini renderings of your recently visited pages is also nice, though so far I haven't found it particularly useful. I guess it would make sense if you take time to configure these to your favorite pages. Pages that have changed since the last visit are marked with a star.

I have a flash blocker. I don't know, couldn't imagine surfing without it. It's the same as FlashBlock, maybe a bit nicer (when you add one of those Flash-laden Thai websites to the whitelist, it automatically loads all the flash on the same page, for example - in FlashBlock you have to reload the page first).

ClickToFlash plug-in does the trick.

There are also full-on ad blocking solutions, last time I checked there were several. But I stick with ClickToFlash, easy does it for me, and I don't mind non-animated advertisement too much.

Wow, I am very impressed with the Version 4, I do like the history part where you can see all the past visited websites.

But be aware of the danger this will bring with it :)

Considering my aversion to all things Apple, I am impressed with the Safari browser. My purchased ad blocker, Ad Muncher works fine with it. The spell checker works, the download manager works and an email notifier running in the tray takes care of what add ons I normally use.

For people like you :) , there's a "Private Browsing..." option in Safari. I don't know where that's on Windows, on Mac it's just in the main Safari menu.

I imagine it will then hide your nasty browsing habits from others :D

Has anyone figured out how to change the default search providers? I am impressed with Safari but also impressed with the new Bing.com search and would like to change the default in Safari and can find no way to do it. Perhaps my ignorance so if you know how to do it please let me know.

I can imagine what the EU would do to Microsoft if they made it that hard to change search engines if they are as tough as they seem to be on the Browser issue. Easy to change browser so hard for me to see what the big deal is but it sure has been a cash cow for the EU.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

I am guessing you couldn't find the answer to that on bing, so... let me Google that for you!
