Connection Problems With My Hosting In Spain And U.k

¡Hello from Chiang mai!

¡I have a problem :D that I really don´t know how to solve!¡I will appreciate a lot any help from you!

I am opening a business in Chiang Mai that has a Web Page and all the consequent e-mail adresses for contact in a hosting in Spain. I also tried to solve the problem with a hosting in U.K to see if it was something related to the spanish hosting. But I still have the same problem wich is:

I can receive mails through outlook express without problem to my business adress but when I try to send an e-mail I can not be connected to my server. The message it says is:

"Falló la conexión con el servidor. Cuenta: 'mail.exclusivehosting.net', Servidor: 'mail.exclusivehosting.net', Protocolo: SMTP, Puerto: 25, Seguridad (SSL): No, Error de socket: 10060, Número de error: 0x800CCC0E" Wich means Connecting eror with the server. Account: mail.exclusivehosting.net, Server: mail.exclusivehosting.net Protocol SMTP, Port; 25, etc, etc.

I tried this connection from another computer and another place to see if it was a problem of my computer. But not. I created a mail account in this server which belongs to an american company but has the hosting in U.K but same message.(All this have be done by a company that works for me in Spain). I changed the port when I made the account cofiguration in Outlook Express from 25 to 26, but same message.

So, If anyone has any idea of what can I do I will be more than helpful as I prefer not to change to a Thai Hosting because the company working for me in this technical part is based as I said in Spain an it will be much easier for them to solve any future problem with the Spanish Hosting than with the thai hosting.

¡Thanks a lot for your kindness!

Cheers, :)

You will have to contact your hosting service to obtain the correct port number and probably will have to activate authentication in the smtp settings.

See the Server tab and tag 'my server requires authentication' and then 'settings'

I had the same problem with my hosting service and the above solved the problem.

Thanks a lot for your answer. I tagged already "my server requires authentification" so I will try the option of asking for a different port.

I appreciate your help,

Kind regards,

Don't forget to go into Settings and tag the log-in info as 'same as incomming mail'

You may also need to go to advanced tab and activate 'this server requires a secure connection (SSL)'

But only your hosting service will be able to tell you if this is required or not!

(For example GMAIL does require it for their SMTP server)

Most likely your Thai ISP is blocking outside SMTP servers.

I think both TOT and Maxnet do this on their cheap home packages.

Which means that if on Maxnet you'd use Maxnet's SMTP server which is: smtp.tttmaxnet.com.

In case you are on TOT, try one of following SMTP servers:

smtp-adsl.totonline.net

smtp.totisp.net

Avantage: Fast! The SMTP server is obviously located in Thailand within your own ISP's network. Try to upload big attachements and they will go through at full line speed!

Disadvantage(s): The risk of the SMTP server getting on a black list. If you use a laptop and move around, you'll always need to find out which ISP is used where you are and change the SMTP server in your mail program accordingly. If the ISP's SMTP server is down, you're stuck and can't send e-mails!

Thank you very much for your answer. I have TOT , with 3 Megas Package(What they say in TOT that it is , because is far away from a 3 megas Line).

Do you know if they have more expensive options for business that allows me to avoid the fact that outside servers are blocked.?

Thank you very much for your help! :)

Cheers,

Should I change the company

Yep, TOT has more expensive business packages, but most users do not eport much improvement over the regular packages.

Not sure thos packages allow outside smtp servers.

If you're lucky and can get Maxnet (TT&T) got for the premier package.

Very close to advertised speeds and no protocol blocking...

¡I used the option smtp.totisp.net and the mails are flying out! Only one more question. If i use my laptop outside my office how can I know which ISP is used?

Thanks a lot, :)

Try this - setup a Gmail a/c, then use that smtp, plus p/w to send all email. I just did - I move around a lot, have all my own servers, but am tired of juggling smtp parameters. Nothing else is changed in TB email client.

smtp.gmail.com

Go to following website:

http://whatismyipaddress.com/staticpages/index.php/lookup-ip

Then click on the "Look Up IP Address" button.

For me (on Maxnet) I see this:

Hostname: adsl-pool-124.157.209-xxx.dynamic.tttmaxnet.com

ISP: Maxnet, Internet Service Provider, Bangkok

Organization: Maxnet ISP, Bangkok Thailand, for Dynamic IP pools

Proxy: None detected

Type: Cable/DSL

Very useful help.¡Thank you very much.!Cheers.

Don't know if it would help, but I had a similar problem.

My dutch hoster has it all, except SMTP servers (apart from webmail)

So i just pay 30 US$ per year for a UK/USA based SMTP service

On that service (it's paid, so no spammer will use it !! >> so not on any blacklist) they allow for use of port 2525, which isn't blocked by most of the ISP (True / TOT, etc.)

I can take my laptop anywhere, and always sent email
