Going Back Home For 4 Months

Featured Replies

I'm considering going back home to work. I'm on a 1 yr. extension of stay with a 1 yr WP.

My guess is that there wouldn't be any problems with my ext. of stay (until May2010). Just get a re-entry permit.

But what would be the consequences for my WP if I stayed away for let's say 4 months? Would it be still valid after I came back, after not having worked here for several months? And, what about the minimum average 40K/month requierement to get a new extension of stay next year? My yearly income in Thailand will be less than 480K/year as I will be here only for 8 months.

Your extension of stay ends the day your work ends. You are supposed to report that day to immigration to cancel the extension and apply for 7 days under consideration or leave the country.

Sorry, I wasn't complete: my employment doesn't end. I can continue my job after I come back.

And my ext, of stay wouldn't end with my work ending because it's based on marriage. Didn't tell that in the post because irrelevant in this case.

So my question is: is it possible to take 4 months off and then continue on the same documents?

Get the re-entry permit to keep you permit of stay alive.

That is all you need immediately.

Not sure what will happen on the income side the when you come up for renewal.

You may need to have a lump sum in the bank to cover the difference.

If you are working again when you apply for your next extension as long as you can show 3 months of tax payments (PNR 1) for income of 40K or more you won't have a problem. The proof on income is for new extension not the past year.
