Visa Run

Featured Replies

My son is now living in Korat and needs to do a visa run within the next few days. Can anyone please tell me which is the best way to go.

Thanks very much.

HL :)

Does he want a visa or just a border crossing?

Vientiane is best for visa. Ease of travel it might even be quicker than for a border run than the Cambodia border.

Thanks for the reply. He has a years visa so just needs a border stamp.

What I was wondering is if there are any minibus trips arranged here, like the one's in Bangkok.

HL :)

I don't think there is.

He could get a Bus from Korat to Nong Kai. I think there are probably some VIP buses that may even run non stop.

From the bus station to the Bridge is easy and then its just a matter of crossing the bridge getting the Lao visa on arrival and coming back across.

The VOA is 1500 baht and he would need 2 photos.

Thanks very much ubonjoe for your reply's, I will pass it on to him.

I am on a retirement visa and therefore completely unaware of these requirements.

HL :)

Glad to help.

Going anywhere else from Korat would be a big hastle to just get to the border crossing.

There are some pretty good duty free shops on the Lao side of the bridge He at least could make his trip across the bridge worthwhile by doing a little shopping before he comes back.
