I'm applying for my annual 1 year non imm. visa extension and I'm so confused what I need to show this time. This is what I got from the immigration website. Does anyone know if this is correct? It states that I can use my wife's income like I did last year but I have heard from many people now that you can't use your wife's income anymore. Can anyone tell me for certain if this is correct and if it's not what is correct? Sorry if this had been asked a million times. I just really need to get the fact straight. Thanks for any replies.

Very confusing as I used most of the documents listed there.

But I am sure that you have to show income of 40.000 baht not your wife....

I will use:

Letter of income from Embassy

Copy of Passport

TM 7

Marriage Certificate

Blue Book Wife

Yellow Book Me

Wife's ID Card

Map to our house

Photos of house

and of course the other half....

Website is out of date.

Latest requrements are that 40,000 baht can only be yours. Also the 400,000 must be in an account in your name only (no joint accounts).

From clause 2.18 of police order dated Novmeber 2008.

(6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.

(no joint accounts)

Joint a/cs ARE accepted in many offices - you may need to show that the deposits are from yourself - check with your local imm. office before you needlessly change your banking arrangements.

NOT allowed any more, Income, bank account has to be in your name only. ( only current account is accepted no saving account )

Photo's of house are not necessary.

Bring you wife with you as she has to sign the papers also.

Agree on the joint account not being allowed any more, but it can be a savings account. Just try to open a normal bank account..... Problems all around. The banks will only let you have a savings account.

I have an extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai. I used the income option with work permit for the extension.

1.) If I leave my job in a month, will I have to leave Thailand the day I lose my job? I'm getting new job but it might take 1-3 months before I apply for a new work permit.

2.) Do my old company has to issue a letter on my last working day for the labor office?

3.) Is it their or my duty to take that letter to the labor office? I know I don't have to return my work permit anymore.

4.) I also read that sometimes labor offices ask to see a letter from last employee when I apply for a new work permit? What that letter should contain?

5.) Do I have to visit immigration for anything?

Thanks

No to all the above.

You may need a letter from your former employer to get the new work permit but it is not a written requirement. The letter only needs to state that you are no longer working for them.

The only problem you might have is proving your income if you cannot show income for 3 months prior to the date you apply for your next extension.
