Hi

I'm a green card holder from the US and i just had my baby 2 weeks ago in Bangkok. I got my green card in November 2004 and in 2005 i returned to Bangkok for 3 months. After i got back to the state

in 2005 after 3 months visit in Thailand i never leave the state until January 2009. In the end of july 2009 it will be perfectly 6 months that i been out of the state. But it seem like i'm not ready to go back to the state

anytime next month because i have made an appointment with the US consular for my baby citizenship and a passport. My baby father is a US citizen and a processing of those application will take up to 3 weeks.

I wanted to know the answer from someone that already been to this point or know about it.

1. I heard that a green card holder can be out of the US for 6 months if he/she wanted to apply for the US citizen.

2. If i stay longer than 6 months but less than a year in Thailand can i still be able to apply for the citizenship.

3. I cannot get a re-entry permit in Thailand and i don't have that much money to afford go to the state and come back again, what should i do.

4. I had a plan to go back to the state in September or October for good anyway, can i do that it's that going to affect me in the time that i apply for the citizen.

My number 1 goal it's to get a US citizen before my green card expire but i don't know anything about how thing work with it. I'm afraid that i might lose a change because i stay in Thailand longer

than i suppose to be. Please help me i don't know what i need to do.

Thank you very much

ps. sorry for my bad grammar i'm not good in English but i hope you will understand. :)

If your number one goal is to get US citizenship, I would advise you to head back to the States. My wife and I were out of the country for 5.5 months, and that seemed to be a real point of contention when interviewed for citizenship. I wouldn't want to try to explain staying past the 6 month limit.
