kat
So you admit you knew that no pets were allowed in your accommodation yet you chose to ignore this yet the maid is the bad person here. And your blatant two fingers up to the rules doesn't come into it as you are Farang. Just exactly which part of " NO PETS ALLOWED " did you have trouble comprehending ? Why do some farang break the rules or the law and when caught blame the Thais ? In my opinion you are lucky to still have a room! lucky to have a room? maybe my lifestyle is slightly different to yours i dont live in a room, that was given to me for free, it is a 4 bedroom apartment that i purchased. the maid worked for me not my building and her disloyalty by informing the jursistic person has not got her anywhere apart from fired, the cat will stay and i will hire a new maid tomorrow. i am aware of the "no pets allowed" policy as are the other thai residents who live here but also choose to keep pets and yes i stick my two fingers up at it, but not because im a foreigner but because my cat does not infringe upon any other residents of the building. now the maid will have a lot more time on her hands to contemplate her actions and if you feel so sorry for her i shall furnish you her details and you may hire the disloyal peasant that she is Right on. I agree completely.

Every breath and bite of food is a privilege for him.. not a right. Dakhar
The only use I have found for cats is target practice. As the owner of rental properties I would pissed at the OPs attitude. But apparently he owns his apt and feels the need to tend a cat, maternal instincts that I just don't posses.

Beacher
I support the OP both ways in this case. The cat is a house cat, and as the OP stated, it doesn't infringe on anybody living in the building, and the OP owns the condo. The rule was most likely made with the idiots in mind who decide to keep several dogs but don't bother to train or maintain them. As for the maid, she proved her disloyalty to her employer and lost that trust. There's no way in the the world that someone is going to work in my home whom I can't trust. Mind you, I totally disagree with the OP's use of the term "peasant" when referring to the maid - sheer arrogance. TaoNow
In my experience, Thai maids (and other underlings) will generally be loyal to their employer if he treats them with respect and kindness. OP may wish to review his recent treatment of the maid that might have prompted her betrayal. Otherwise, history will repeat...

JohnGotti
about twenty minutes ago, the juristic person for my building delivered a notice to my door regarding our cat, informing me that 'Pets are not allowed" (i was already aware of this), attatched to the back of the notice was a picture of my cat lying on my bed, this was obviously taken when no one was home and without my permission. after informing the juristic person that i intend to take legal action against (name i shall not mention) for entering my property without permission, he buckled under the stress and informed me that the maid had provided him with said evidence for a little tip as he put it. having just taken extreme pleasure in firing my maid who was not the best in the world anyway, i now have a vacancy for a maid if anyone has anyone they would care to put forward.. regards get a blog. no one cares about you. What a load of tosh, nothing to do with Farang or Thai's breaking the rules. One of the reasons that a lot of Condo blocks have the no pets rule is to stop people having dogs in their condo, as they can often be noisy. I am no cat fan, but they hardly casue a problem, especially if as the OP says it is pretty much a house cat. The maid is a grass, and thouroughly deserved what she got - Fired! He is grand fellow and unlike the dog he doesn't consider the garbage can a dining experience or that leaving a puddle of vomit a bonding gift. I admire the OP for removing the employee from the premises. Everyone knows that the rules in respect to companion animals are so that a means exists by which one can deal with an irresponsible unit owner/tenant. The rule isn't enforced when the cat isn't seen or heard. BTW, I poets get more play from the ladies than do knuckle dragging philistines. Quality ladies like a man that can excite passion in the heart and mind as well as the loins. Try going out with a woman with an IQ greater than 90 and you'll understand. submaniac
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juristic_person "Juristic person" is a legal term to describe a legal entity that does not actually exist in reality. A living, breathing person is a 'natural person'. When a corporation, or other legal entity is created, it is a legal fiction that allows the legal organization to act as a natural person, such as enter into contracts, sue and be sued.
