I'm going to be in Chaiyaphum from around 17th July to 23rd August 2009 and was wondering if anyone else will be in the area and up for a beer some time. I'll be with the wife and kids and probably travelling around a bit but could certainly find time for a beer or two.

I also noticed on another thread that there is a Farang Corner in Nong Bua Daeng and was wondering if this would be worth a visit. Does anyone have any up to date info on this ? I haven't been there before so know nothing about the place.

Cheers

I might be in Chaiyaphum at end of September, sorry about that. But hope you have a pleasant stay. :)

Thanks Dee. Have been a few times before and spent three weeks there last time and enjoyed it. Staying a bit longer this time so if anybody is about would welcome the chance for a beer or two and a chat.

I have small pizza bar in Non Sung. Come for a drive here and I shout you a pizza... You pay for the beers :)

Its about an hours drive through the back roads. It is a realy scenic drive through true Issan farmland and worth the time.

A few years back when I used to live out there(Chaiyaphum) I had a couple of regular drinking partners(Chris and Gary) and we would dissapear from the wifey's for a few days,(despite them telling us not to booze).....it would all start when either would roll up at my house with a bottle of Sponsor laced with Gin......... :) unfortuneately I don't think my liver is quite what it was!!

Thanks Glenn I'll probably take you up on that. I have just located Non Sung on my road map, south of Chaiyaphum near Korat if that's the one.

I'll be traveling from this Saturday, the 27th, so will only be on the internet from time to time and certainly not every day, especially the first few days, but I will keep monitoring the thread.

hello Boogie!!

I live in Chaiyaphum since 1 year now in july. I can tell you that there are no farang (falang) pub here right now. That Scandinavian one is closed. But nevertheless, find a pub isn´t that hard. If you like we can meet for a beer or two. It is always welcome with company up here. We are a couple of guys that meet every now and than, so just come and join.

Hi,

Nong Bua Daeng now has a bar! Ran by a Thai/Western couple. It of course sells alcohol plus food and has a pool table and computer with

internet. Think it's called JJ's. Nong Bua Daeng isn't big so finding it won't be hard. Ifyou pm me I'll get you the owners telephone number.

If you need to stay in this area there is a very nice resort with aircon chalets round a pool with a small bar up in Kaset Somboon called Barry House that I can recommend, again pm for phone number. 400b a night.

Won't be around until sepember myself but hope you enjoy the trip.

Ok I am finally in Chaiyaphum. I arrived on 17th July as scheduled but went back to Bangkok on 20th for a few days to watch the Liverpool game.

I am now back however and will be here for a few more weeks. I have sent PM's to Glegolo, Andy and Handydog. So hope to find JJ's and also meet up with you guys.
