Flight Departure 50 Min. After Overstay Limit...

Featured Replies

Hello,

my first entry on my tourist visa is expiring on 1st of July. I plan to flight to China but the flight leaves on 2nd of July at 12:50 am ie 50 minutes after the 1st of July.... Will I have to pay for overstay or is it fine as long as I pass the immigration booth at the airport before midnight?

Thanks a lot!

No. They give you 24 hours for free, as you said you should go through Immigration before midnight anyway.

No problem at all, you will pass immigration prior to midnight so you are fine. Anyway they give you 1 day free at the airport.

I'm not 100% but fairly certain that once you go through passport control you are stamped as having departed and therefore you must only go through in good time to escape penalty. Good luck

You will have cleared immigration long before the limit, if you are to catch your flight,

so should have no problems.

Arriving, say Dec 16th at 23:30, if someone arrived at the Passport counter at just past midnight would the Stamps be changed to the 17th?

Yes, but there has been reports that they have fogotten to set the stamp to the right date.

Always check your stamp.

Last year I stayed back in the flight area until about 12:15 AM (basically delayed myself by around 10 or 15 minutes), I seem to recall that I might have gotten to the immigration guy about 12:25 AM. They were still stamping with the previous day, so it didn't work. It really surprised me.

I have gone through immigration at 6 AM, 6 hours after expiration, without a problem. The immigration guy did send my passport to someone who had to sign it off, but it only took about a minute.

Sems logical to me to use the day the flight was scheduled to depart - as they always write the flight No next to the departure stamp, otherwise it would be confused with the same flight No on the day you actually left - delayed until after midinight

if you were scheduled out on the 16th why not stamp it the 16th - the 17th would / could cause problems at a later date.

Arrival stamps are usually set to the date the plane hits the deck, not when a pax gets to immigration after midnight.
