Malaysia Visa Run

Featured Replies

I have just done a visa run to Malayisa (Sadao) from Samui and was only given a 15 day visa. I was told that to get a 30 day visa I had to go to Penang and apply at the Thai embassy there. I am a British citizen

I have done lots of visa runs 3 years ago and always got a 30 day visa at the border crossing, has the laws changed and is this correct.

Is it also the same for Burma ie can I get a 30 day visa without having to stay over night ?

Thanks in advance

You don't get a visa at any border crossing. You will only get a 15 day visa exempt entry at any border crossing since November of last year. You can still get unlimited 30 day entries when you fly in.

To get a visa you have to go to any of the nearby consulates or embassies. You can get a free 60 day single entry tourist visa. In Vientiane you can get a 2 entry tourist visa.

Popping over the border you get a 15 day entry stamp. If you do it by air you will get 30days. If you go to a Consulate and get a Visa you will get 60 days.

Yes. And there is a limit of four back to back land entries.

Didnt know that thanks !

I think we will go to Penang in a couple of weeks and stay over night and apply for 60 day visa

Penang gives same day service for tourist visas. You apply in the morning and get them back in the afternoon. Use an agent and you don't even have to go to the consulate.
