just use Thai Kedmanee

Kedmanee is the most common, the equivalent of QWERTY for English. Don't set shift-lock.

Pattachote is a more efficient keyboard layout, just like Dvorak is for English. Like Dvorak, it was based on studies of letter frequency, and designed to place the most used letters in the optimal positions. But also like Dvorak, Pattachote is seldom used. Go figure.
