Yes that wont be enough to cover her stay.

Strewth that's over eight thousand quid, can have a pretty good holiday on that, though it depends on the length of the trip.

When she applies she will need to explain why she has a sudden influx of funds into her account as the ECO would probably be suspicious, the funds could just as easily be taken out after she has Entry Clearance.

She will need to explain the reason and length of the trip, and, importantly, convince the ECO of her reasons to return, affordability is only one part of the process.

Please could you tell me if i need to sponsor her as well?

Where is she intending to stay in the UK? Presumably it's at your place, so she'll need a letter from you confirming this and giving details of the property plus rental agreement/letter from landlord if rented or Land Registry office copy entry confirming you own it

A sponsor is not necessarily the person who is paying for the trip, they can also be a British citizen/resident who is supporting an application.

If someone is traveling to the UK independently, for example as a tourist staying in hotels, and meeting all the expenses themselves then that person probably would not have a sponsor.

However, if someone is traveling to the UK to visit a friend then that friend can support the application by sponsoring them; i.e. writing a sponsor's letter. Definitely required, IMHO, if the visitor is staying with the British resident friend.

You should include brief details of how and when you met; how often you have visited her in Thailand, with a copy of you passport showing the entry/exit stamps; how often you contact each other, with evidence such as phone bills etc.; what your relationship is and you future plans together, if any; and the reason for the visit at this time.

You should also include a brief description of the accommodation you are offering her with evidence that she can stay there; a mortgage statement or similar if you own; a landlord's letter if you rent.
