Overstaying And Police Record

Featured Replies

If I overstay in Thailand for a day and then pay the ifne in less than 12 hours, does this constitute a criminal record? Meaning will it show in a police certificate if I asked for one?

Not if you don't get caught.

You can pay your overstay fine at the airport no problem.

But if you are caught on your way to the airport/border with an expired visa you can expect to end up in the Immigration departments holding cells for quite a while, and I have heard they are places to be avoided at all costs

Oh, no. I meant going on a visa run and "technically" overstaying since I'm leaving the night my visa expires but will be a few hours late coming to the border. At most, my overstay is 5-6 hours. :)

As long as you do not get caught on the way to the border you can pay your 500 Baht fine and have no problems.
