Chanote - Can Parent Change Name On It?

Featured Replies

My mother-in law (Thai) had her eldest daughter 'named' on the Chanote.

She now wants to change it to her second daughter.

If the eldest does not agree to this is it impossible to change?

what do you mean by "named"? If her oldest daughter is shown to be the owner on the chanote nothing can be done to change this without her agreement.

Hi Antony 77,

If the oldest daughter is already 20 years of age and it was not given to her as present as minor, the daughter has to agree to such changes and sign for it. If though she is still under 20 years of age the approval of a court has to be obtained on behalf of the minor.
