Cannot Use Ctrl T To Get A New Tab In Firefox

Featured Replies

I'm running Vista 64 HP SP2 on a Intel Quad Core with Firefox 3.5

I cannot open new tabs in Firefox either from CTRL T or from the [+] which is missing. I was annoyed by AVG taking over new tabs and proffering a yahoo engine instead of a blank or homepage so I turned off the show Yahoo search box function in Advanced from the AVG toolbar. Then I could no longer get new tabs. Turning it back on means tabs can be loaded.

I thought that this was some glitch but I realised I'd just downloaded and installed SP2 for Vista as well so I thought it might be possible that SP2 had some effect.

I understand how AVG could interact with Firefox to put up their page in a new tab but not why removing that would take away the new tab functionality and require you to open links in a new tab, just to get one !

Anyone else had this or know anything about it ?
