Visiting Family Visa Extension

Featured Replies

I've been here now for almost 3 years and was notified (by you guys here in the forum) about a 60 day extension for visiting relatives. I obtained one such extension in January (I have a Thai son) and in March, went to Laos to get a visa. So now I am wondering if I get receive another family 60 day extension as this would be off a different visa. I know I can't get an extension of an extension but can I get one of these at the end of each tourist visa? Any information you can pass along to me, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! ~D~

For what it is worth I think you can. Visit immigration and see what they say.

I can only talk about Tourist Visa extensions: It is commonly agreed on that you can get a 30 day extension on every new Visa each.

If you have a multiple entry Tourist Visa you can even get an extension on every entry stamp you get after a border run, extending a double entry Tourist Visa to nearly 6 months - 60 days (1st entry stamp) + 30 days (extension) + 60 days (2nd entry stamp) + 30 days (extension). I've only read once that a guy was refused the full extension and got only 1 week, but board members assumed that the officer just wanted to see some tea money. Most times it should be a standard procedure for tourist visas, no matter how many tourist visas in a row you might have had before.

Thus I ASSUME you can get another extension on your 2nd visa.

DISCLAIMER: I have no knowledge whatever on your type of visa and the law involved. :)

So...

Poster is talking about a special provision to visit spouse or child and the time is 60 days. The current translation has dropped the (one time) that was previously used so would expect it can be used more often.
