Which country is your friend applying to?

A UK settlement visa application costs 33930baht.

For a discussion, one of many, on the use of agents, see here.

That this agent charged 60,000 baht for help with a visit application shows, IMHO, where his priorities lie; screwwing as much money as possible from his clients! A UK visit visa costs 3886baht!

that is absolutely shocking what he is quoting !! why not do it himself? all the agent will do is tell him what documents to get and then he will have to do the work to get the documents anyway... if he's not sure what documents he needs, im sure after short time on this website he will soon get the idea what is needed by the ECO's...

Yeeks what an unfair price can't he do it himself. Only he and the good TW really know about themselves after all. Nobody can 'sway' the embassy and if they say they can they are probably lying, the same as 100% guaranteed visas:- absolute rubbish!!

I'm willing to bet the agency has made many promises that they can't keep.

At 100 kbaht hes probably better/cheaper doing it in his home country with a properly qualified professional anyway.

Personally I've recieved better and more informed advice from thaivisa posters than I have from anywhere else:)

If his wife has already had a visit visa last year then basically he can use the same information again (but bringing it up to date) plus for a settlement visa he will have to supply imformation on their accomodation in the UK and his employment/financial details to show they can live in the UK without recource to public funds, but he won't have to show that his wife has a reason to return to Thailand of course.

That is all the agent will do, ask for the updated info plus employment/accomodation info fill out the application on line with his wife and arrange for the TB test.

Assuming the daughter is Thai and not a UK citizen his wife will have to show she has both custody AND day to day responsibility for her daughter. If both applications are done at the same time then he can/will also be the daughter's sponsor.

Only he can decide whether paying an extra 30,000+ baht for that amount of work is worthwhile. If he decides to do it himself I'm sure he'll get all the info he needs on Thai Visa.

The maximum it should be is 30,000 baht which should include translations taking her to Bangkok to submit the application and taking her for an x ray.

If he requires professional help feel free to contact myself we have an office in Thailand and are OISC registered in the UK.
