Tourist Visa For Ghanaian Citizen

Featured Replies

My wife is a citizen of and lives in Ghana, which has no Thai representation. I understand that the Thai Embassy in Nigeria has jurisdiction over Ghanaian affairs.

I receive no replies to my emails to the Embassy in Nigeria, and attempts to call by phone produce no results. The one time I actually managed to speak with someone, he sounded almost surprised at the question about Ghana (I think he said "I think so"), and I lost the connection before I could get all my questions answered.

I also emailed the Thai Embassy in Singapore, but in typical fashion (in accordance with my experience with embassies/consulates), I've received no reply.

I see that the Thai government is trying to resurrect tourism. This is not the way to achieve that objective.

So the question is: how does a Ghanaian go about applying for a Tourist Visa?

Thanks for any help.

Sorry I can't help much. There is nothing I can find. Only the Embassy in Nigeria and you probably have that already http://www.mfa.go.th/web/2502.php?depid=285

Try sending a fAX.

Two months ago I helped a guy from Ghana to fill up his application form in the Thai Embassy in Malaysia, however another guy from Nigeria asserted to me later that the Embassy will not accept the application for a tourist visa from that guy. He said they only issue visas for African people who have proof of going for study or medical treatment. It was true enough and the guy did not get his visa.

But is that apply to everywhere? well I have no answer to your question, and I hope there will be another African guy in this forum who can help you better.

I understand your frustration and wish a good luck.

Some Nationalities can only apply in their own country or the Country that has Consular facility's for that country.

She should be OK to apply in Nigeria. The problem being trying to contact them.

Yes, the general rule is that a person is expected to apply at the embassy/consulate of the country where he/she has a legal presence other than as a tourist. It doesn't mean that a given consulate CANNOT issue a visa otherwise if they wish to do so, but normally they would not. In fact, one time I visited the Thai Embassy in Lisbon, and was told that they can issue a Tourist Visa to a Kenyan citizen, only to be told later by the consul himself that he won't do it, because "he didn't want the responsibility".

Thanks for all the replies.

Only sorry that they were not much help. It is just not the subject that ever comes up on here.

I'm sorry to bump this old post, but I need more informations.

My friend from ghana would like to join me tomorrow for a visa run in Laos. He went himself there few days ago, but he didn't get visa because ghana passeport can't get it on arrival.

I gave him advice to make a Laos visa tomorrow in Bangkok which will let him get in Laos, but I have no information about the thai visa he wants to apply in vientiane.

I don't want him to waste his time if he can't get a tourist visa in Vientiane.

Thank you for all informations you can share.

AFAIK the Thai Embassy will not issue a visa but you should be able to confirm with a call to one of the visa services providing such trips from Bangkok.
