Using Water From "chlorine-pool" For Irrigation?

Featured Replies

I want to know,if I can use the water from a pool,in which there is chlorine, for watering my rubberproducing trees?Or any other trees or plants? Probably a stupid question, guess that is a bad ideea? How about salt, then. From what I know, salty places are not good for agriculture.. Well; I know that I CAN, but what I mean is, of course,is it harmful....

I think plants don't like chlorine too much.

I have heard that if you set water in the sunlight for some time, it will dispel the chlorine somehow.

I bet you could Google this to find out.

Thanks !!

You can nuke the chlorine with Sodium Thiosulfate, 12 grams per 1000 litres of water (assuming your chlorine level is around 3ppm). Or if you speak American, 1lb per 10000 US gallons.

Sodium thiosulfate should be available at and descent pool store, or any place that deals in aquariums.

If its an outdoor pool the chlorine will be stabilized and UV won't have much effect on it. The plants can usually handle the occasional dose of chlorine at reasonable levels but many beneficial microorganisms in the soil cannot.

Thankyou both of you! I now know what to do. Amazing how helpful some people are; it makes you feel good when you know, that there actually are people out there who care to help, even,as in most cases I guess, they are complete strangers. You "made my day"!
