I am heading back to Thailand for the first time in 2 years...I can't wait!!!!

I was in East Africa last fall and in Argentina a few months ago. Both places would not accept $100 USD bills that were older than 2002 or so. Is that true in Thailand now? Or will they take bills that are older? It is a pain trying to get only newer bills!!!!

Thanks!

Yes, it is true. Just tell the bank you need newer bills for overseas currency exchange. Also, cull the bills for too many marking stamps, writing and so forth. Or use travelers checks.

In Myanmar & Indonesia, they don't take certain year, certain serial number, or too old.

In Phuket and Singapore, I find that they don't really care.

That's what I was thinking. But after having problems recently, I just wanted to make sure. I had one rejected for having a pin hole in it!

I went today and got a handful that all look new, have the large face, and are not out of date.

I appreciate the help!

I never had a problem with the date as long it is the current design. I have exchanged $100 billis issued as far back as 1993. Lot of them issued prior to 2002 still in circulation and still legal tender, besides they are closely checked to make sure they aren't counterfit when you exchange them.
