I was presented today my first water bill of my brand new condo apartment.

While the consumption seems right, the price x unit seems too high, 35 baht/unit!!

The management says it is the normal price for condominium while for houses is much cheaper.

The condo is near Phuket town.

Condo owners...how much do you pay per unit?

Thanks.

You are lucky

We pay 68.08/unit for cold water

and 218.18 for hot

Total greed of owners

total ripoff

This is Aspasia ,Kata Beach

Much depends on how the water is supplied. Could be a private well, public water, road tanker, rain water collection. In Patong hillside a road tanker costs 1,200 baht for 12,000 lites of water = 100 baht/unit (1,000 L). Public water works out at about 20 baht/unit. There will also be electric costs for the pumping, costs associated with any filter system. 35 baht/unit in a condo seems Ok to me.

Oilinki, yes i mean per cubic meter,

Wellington, is Aspasia a Condo? I tought it was a resort (beautiful!), in that case the price can be very much different.

What i meant is that the management here says that this is what they are charged from the municipality because this is a condo. My doubt is why i was charged only 5 baht per unit in Patong?

Even though i have to say that is a much more luxury place than in Patong.

So the bill goes with the luxury level of the place?

My water has been free for the last 12 months so don't know the unit price - that's in a house mind you, still benefiting from the stimulus measures from last June that were supposed to last 6 months!

yeh my water bill has been free as well. Too bad my electric bill with my aircons is always over the top, but I can't stand a hot house.

I provide my own water in kathu. But supply water to tenants at 7.5 bt a unit, 35 bt is a rip off, I believe the highest water authority rate, to high users is in the order of 18bt a unit

That's about right, but developments/condos have additional costs for storage, filtration, pumping, maintenance, repairs. I'm not justifying higher costs, only pointing out there are more costs to owners/management than you might think.

For the benefit of all the other condo users in Phuket ....

I just came back from the management office where i have been talking to the manager about my water bill. She showed me a document from the water authority of Phuket, clearly showing the prices of a unit (cubic meter) depending on amount used by condominiums.

That means that the more the condo uses the more we pay, with a minimum of 11 baht/unit to a maximum of 32,5 baht/unit (300 cubic meter/month up).

Since mine is a 64 apartments condo we are charged correctly the highest rate, plus a 2,5 baht per unit for filters and pumping.

She also told me that in Phuket water is even more expensive than Bangkok, because part of the water that the municipality sells to us comes from private wells.

So houses are privileged compared to condos!!

As of this month water at my home costs a whopping 120 Baht per m3 - all brought in by tanker and drawn from the dirtiest murkiest hole in the ground imaginable! But it's a captive market and the lease still has seven months to run.

For those bemoaning your water bill, be thankful that you don't have to pay for pumping the water out of the ground. I have various wells and pumps and a double digit (K) electric bill to go with it.

Just curious.. Have you costed it out per M3 ??

I mean I assume it still has to be cheaper than a water truck or you wouldnt do it ??
