Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said on Wednesday it is not yet necessary to seal the country to control the spread of H1N1 flu as advised by Chulalongkorn Hospital doctors.

He said, however, that the matter will be raised at the cabinet meeting on July 9 to mete out more preventive measures such as closures of tuition schools and internet shops from which the flu was said to have spread.

The Public Health Ministry on Wednesday reported 290 addition cases of H1N1 flu, bringing up the total to 2,718 with 11 deaths.

I don't know if there is a lot that can be done to prevent the flu, but it may be necessary to slow the rate of spread to keep health facilities functioning.

It seems this flu is turning out to be a little more deadly than previously expected here in Thailand.

This would be the same PM who extols the virtues of longer national holidays as a means of containing the spread (and boosting tourism)......... blissfully ignoring the fact that those same holidays trigger the fanning out of large proportions of the Thai population across the country as they travel to be with family.

The man's a visionary. :)

Scan with XXX Anti Virus each computer...? Joke aside.

But let me come to the point. Are net cafes swine flu sources?

This is a good excuse for the government to close them!

I can think of other places which need "to be cleaned" first - example: Morchit station
