The Zumo 550 is available but it is very high priced;

Is best to buy a unit outside Thailand, as Gps units are still a rich mans game in Thailand. Prices are falling but not fast enough!

You could also try looking at a Nuvi 500 or Nuvi 550, These unit are also rugged and waterproof.

Best option is to buy the zumo in your home country and just purchase the thailand map when you are in Thailand.

Or try the Nuvi 550 here 16500b. This way you get a full Thailand warranty. if you bring one in it can be slightly cheaper. But if you have a problem you send it back to the USA for repair.

I was thinking of bringing my Navman next visit, but sadly Navman don't have water resisitant plastic housings or motorcycle mounts.

Seems every manufacture makes motorcycle mounts except Navman! Cie la vie!

So thaicbr's suggestion maybe the best option if you can get a bike mount.

The Zumo 400 was only build for Europe and South Africa. Zumo 450 was for the US market. Both are the same - without Bluetooth. The software and operation of the Zumo 500 and 550 are the same as the 400.

I bought my 400 in Germany for 160 Euro. I think in Thailand the price is about 30,000 to 40,000 Baht for the 500/550.

I use it on a small motorcycle. I like it very much. It saves me time and gasoline. I could not drive outside Bangkok without it.

The Thailand maps you have to buy here or check the forums.

Where did you get it for 160EURO ?

I found 350 EURO , 500 and 550 are much more.

The Nuvi 550 is waterproof etc,etc and only 16,500b with Thai maps and a Thai warranty (meaning you do not have to send it to the USA if you have a problem). No brainer really.

you can get the ram mount motorcycle mount from Gadgettrend.

For budget conscious motorcycle riders, You can still find rebuilt or secondhand Garmin Street Pilot 2610 units. I just looked on eBay and there are a number of units for less than $100. The 2610 is a rugged water resistant model. No bells or whistles but a good solid unit. If I had to decide between my old 2610 and my Nuvi 750, I'd probably keep the 2610. And, yes, they do make a motorcycle mount for it.

Nuvi 750 is not waterproof though were as the 550 is!

Where did you get it for 160EURO ?

At 'Karstadt' in Limburg. They wanted to sell it for 200 Euro this April.

I told the sales the device is 2 years old, it is a display piece, has no Bluetooth and that I use it in Thailand where the build in Europe map is useless.

So I got him down to 159 Euro. :)

Hi Sqatter, I bought my Zumo 550 in Europe several years ago fot 550 euro. I can use him on my BMW R1200C Motorcycle in Europe and here in Thailand, for this I bought a SD Card look for details http://www.isystem.co.th

If you buy the Zumo here, than you get the USA Card inside. best is to buy in Europe.

I use it here many years with GREAT pleasure. Even the smallest road is to find. I use Google Earth to find locations and transport the coordinates in my Zumo. An update costs about 500 baht in MBK Bkk

All Hotels and petrol stations are yo find, really SUPER.

Good luck

Do you know if the nuvi 660 is waterproof? I bought mine here in the states. Would want to bring to Patty and use on a cycle. Noticed it has been discontinued by Garmin WTH???

Old post, I know, but you might look at an Aqua Box from gpscity.com

I have one arriving on Monday if you want to check it out. :)
