Transport Thai Woman Tests Taxis, Charged 700 Baht for 100 Baht Fare
I would encourage her to test more and have these photos sent to my home address. -

Community Chinese Man Rescued from Pattaya Rooftop Water Tank
The 8-storey height in Pattaya is to do with EIA rules. Eight floors and less, there's no need to carry out an expensive EIA which might kybosh the whole project, or at least lead to lots of bribes having to be paid to get around it. Above 8 floors and the EIA is mandatory, and the developer will be expected to make a significant contribution to the local infrastructure (e.g. pay for new drains), and there's a good chance they'll get stuck with the green rooftop nonsense, which is why you often see 20- or 30-storey towers with scraggy, wind-blasted palm trees waving about on the roof, lol. It's why the building trend in many places like Jomtien these days is either 8 floors or 50, there's not much point in the in-between sizes. -

They would still try and scam customers no matter how much the basic charge was. -

Things that annoy you in Thailand
You can never go wrong by wearing a nice suit to the red-light district. When I lived in Manila back in the 80's, I was the only guy on the strip that wore a nice suit and tie. Only the smartest and most beautiful girls would approach me because the others were intimidated by me. I never had trouble walking out with the prize gal, and those were the best years of my life. If you dress like garbage, then that's what you attract! -

Court Temporarily Backs Trump on Tariffs Amid Legal Storm Over Presidential Power
This headline is misleading. The appeals court didn't "Back" Trump. The appeals court granted a temporary stay. Here's a better explanation. The US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, which oversees the International Trade Court, granted the Trump administration’s request for a temporary administrative stay. This gives the court time to review legal arguments and filings. The administration must submit its briefings by June 9, after which the court will determine the next steps.
