How many times have we read of Farangs falling off balconies after a drink.

I don`t know what the height of the balcony rails are at this hotel, but some balconies tend to be only a bit higher than your wasteline if you are tall and quite easy to fall over if you miss your step or have had a drop too much....Is their a regulation height for a balcony rail?? Probably not...

If he died would it pronounced as a suicide and then summarily questioned if it was actually a murder?

Maybe when he wakes up the conspiratorists amongst us can ask him if he was pushed.

Just and observation I've picked up on reading many posts.

The Height for a handrail in the UK is 42 inches, the one on my balcony is 39 but a friends in View Talay is considerably lower

Maybe we are being slightly wrong when we treat these balcony suicides as murders...when in fact they could be simple accidents? Albeit self-induced accidents!

That depends on what method of restraint said suicidee uses proir to flinging himself roughly to the ground. Hands and feet tied, suicide. Hog tied, undecided.

24th February: When he's well police will get his version of events

At 2.30 in the morning on February 24, Police Major Tailert Lehpehr, inquiry inspector at Kongdongtan Sub-station was alerted to another farang falling off a balcony. In the last month alone there have been several such incidents of this nature involving Thai and farangs.

The police major went to Jomtien Hotel 2 with volunteers of the Sawang Boriboon, and there on the ground was Mark Slingo, a twenty three year old Brit lying in a very poorly condition.

Police knocked on the door of room 307 on the third floor and spoke with his girlfriend who at that moment had no idea what had happened.

Widraadaa Poopaanhaa, 23, told the police major that her boyfriend works as a diving instructor at Mermaid on Soi Whitehouse. They had gone out that evening to drink at a friend's house in Central Pattaya and had come back very drunk around 1am. Her boyfriend went for a drink on the balcony and she immediately crashed out in the room.

It's expected Mark Slingo with make a full recovery, and at an appropriate moment police will get his version of events.

For sure, but I'm talking about those which are booked in as suicides, relatives claim murder...but all along were accidents.
