The original thread, "Koh Samui Thaivisa Party, The inaugural Samui pissup," was closed on May 3, 2009.

Rooo:

Stay tuned for location & acceptance thread.

It's been two-and-a-half months, has the idea of the event been abandoned? Any feedback from Central Control?

Unfortunately, it has been difficult in finding a venue open to hosting such a party on terms amenable to Thai Visa.

So, if anyone would like to volunteer helping to find a place please contact bazmlb and ask him exactly what Thai Visa is looking for and how they can help find some place that suits our needs.

I'd do it myself, but won't be back for a few months.

Perhaps it would have been a good idea to have defined these terms and made them known before we embarked on a Poll.

If I recall, the Poll narrowed down Ban Rak as the venue and a couple of bars, one of which was the Sunseeker.

agree...what are the relevant "amenable terms"? :)

So it's not just about having something to eat and drink in a venue bar/restaurant?

Feel free to post the terms amenable to Thai Visa here!

not up to me guys, you asked why, i told you. If anyone is interested in organizing something rather than post about it, please pm bazmlb.

Recipe for Big Party

1) Get everyone interested with rumor of big party.

2) Take poll on forum building more interest.

3) Let simmer 30 more days.

4) When interest resurfaces, get people to organise their own party.

:)

Did you read the OP koheesti or are you merely bent on trolling? It has always been up to you to get it organized. Look at the Pattaya forum party. Organized rapidly and efficiently by area members without a hint of the kind of attitude you seem to display.

Get it organized and, if the terms are amenable and the members organized, Thai Visa usually throws some money into the kitty to help things along.

Hey SBK, I think that you are being over sensitive. Your reply to the OP regarding the party Status indicated that we were awaiting terms which were amenable to T. Visa.

Now the goal posts seem to have changed and I think that many of us are confused, particularly as we did have a Poll and then we were told that it was difficult to find a venue. We seem to be back to square one.

I think that if we all know what is meant by "amenable terms" and the conditions of play then we can move all forward. That is unless everyone has been overtaken by apathy by then.

Since you're an expert here, please explain the purpose of a " :) "? I thought it could be used to suggest a post was meant playfully or jokingly. Or did you just miss it after my post? Hmm, the term "Peter Principle" comes to mind for some reason.

No smiley after this - If members are supposed to organise it, can you at least tell us what terms Thaivisa would find acceptable?

?

What's the matter guys?

If you samuians are not capable to arrange a TV meeting, we kohphanganer can manage to make a nice one! But you all have to take a ferry...

go for it! but what i dont understand is who suggested that there be a party? Where is this person now and Why was there never any mention of TV guidlines for such parties. I know one memeber who has gone looking at party places with teh mod and he does not know anything about TV rules so yes pehaps KPG would be a better place as SBK may be able to shed some light on what is needed.

Ban Rak would have been ideal for people from KPG & Tao. Some didn't didn't have decency to get back with an answer & won't answer phone. Gives idea of interest level?

Several places were approached. So maybe someone would have better luck.

Ban Rak would have been ideal for people from KPG & Tao.Cheap transport for P/up & drop off would have been organised for the other areas.

I'd say scrap it.

agreed and the enxt time someone gets the urge to offer up a TV party make sure TV is prepared to disclose the terms for their participation. Still an unanswered question; must be a top secret formula :)

It has been mentioned several times now to contact baz in sales & he has posted a link too.

Did you not see the posts?

Seems to have drowned in conflict of interest..!

..speaks volumes of the farangs out here... :)

Can you please clarify what conflict of interest?

when the party was offered i do not rememeber reading anything about needing to contact baz in sales and marketing.

FYI when i am paying for a party i take a more unilateral approach than TV i.e. i decide where and when and put out the invites. If people show they show if not I still have a great time. I have never needed to research rules for a party if I am a guest.

In the op it was asked for possible location & venues, Baz was given them & those venues were approached siteing thaivisa requirements. It is clear that a suitable venue has not yet been found so now you (and other memebrs) have been given the reason why it has not been organised yet.

Further locations will be approached if they are suggest & when baz approaches them they too will be told of thaivisa requirements. It is quite possible that venues on samui don't need the buisness or have read these threads & have no interest in dealing with the samui posters on a night out?

more like they do not value TV advertising as much as TV does.

come on get real and i am very surprised that you would write such a trollish comment.

so i did the research and yes it is all about the money so why not just say it. TV guidelines are as follows:TV wants to barter advertising for booze and venue. So if we want to have a party we need to find a place that values TV advertising more than the cost of their booze. who knows stranger things have happened.

No, you haven't given the reason! we still don't know the TV requirements, are they a secret?

The one bar I researched has not been approached. I have asked the owner to make contact with T.V. and to put approx costs etc on the Forum.

FYI

It is in Bang Rak

It has mooring facilities for those with boats and is next to the Ferry pier from KP.

It has Draft Beer/Wine etc and able to supply all types of food

Live band available.

Easily capable of accomodating 100 plus.

There was a big party there early this week which was very enjoyable.

Great location overlooking the beach.

I have already given the name of the bar in a previous post, furthermore I have no business interest.

The proposition has been put to a couple of venues that they could do barter for the events on food and beverage for advertising, but it was not compulsory, they were each asked about pricing of their food and beverage so a budget could be put together.

We are still in the process of looking for a suitable venue that can meet the requirements and see some benefit from holding such a widely publicized event at their location.

We haven't ruled out any yet, we are just trying to select the most suitable.
