Esri Maps Not Compatible To The Computer

Featured Replies

I contacted four Garmin shops and the ESRI hot line they said they don't make a map that they don't have program that in compatible with the computer languages. Asian or Thailand maps. I wanted to d trip planning on the computer and then transfer it to my GPS

I've tried downloading the stuff from the Garmin web site no luck.

I know guys do this how?

Mine is a Zumo 450 purchased in America has the Asian map in in it

Ray as far as I am aware, there is no Mapsource (ie computer compatible) Thailand map put out by Garmin or it's suppliers - not in recent times at least.

There are a few non-genuine Mapsource compatibles - but we are not allowed to talk about them :)

Except for the part we can't talk about that is exactly what they said

Thanks

Rotweiler's All Thailand map will work with MapSource. See Rotweiler website. I'm just stating the facts, this is not a recommendation for that, or any, particular map.

The 8.1 map can be loaded onto mapsource.. I am away from my PC for the next 2 weeks but can help you after that..

I dont have a v9 Mapsource package yet, but to be honest havent looked.

Garmin do make maps of Thailand. They have forced me to buy them as they came with my mobile phone in the form of Windows Mobile Garmin XT. Fknows how much that added to the price of the phone? The maps allow POI and trip planning and I find them mostly useless versus other products.

Think your not understanding the issues being raised.

Can you get the map you have into mapsource on your home PC to map route, plan, waypoint, etc prior to transferring to the GPS device.

ESRI did have a mapsource version on prior map releases, but it was not priced at the consumer level, with the consumer prices back in the 7.x releases being upwards of 30 / 40k for the PC installable product. Since the 8.x releases people have had to make repacks to create a PC side and as I havent been closely following the topic since the last v9 maps came out a couple of months ago I havent got a PC side v9 package yet.

The 8.1 Mapsource version is out in public.

Well it looks like I wasn't the only one trying to make trip planning a little more simple. So 8.1 can be used?

Thanks for clarification. You are correct, the mobile version doesn't allow any sync with PC after install and all trip planning is done on the mobile. I don't find it much use. I haven't used Garmin much of late (last Mapsource ver I had was ver3), but assume latest Mapsource is a different product to Garmin Mobile XT maps?

I have had the past three versions of the ESRI Thailand map and NONE of them will work with Map Source without being hacked.
