I have a DTAC simcard with a fair balance, but I've not visited for a year so I need to top up by 29 July.

Is there anyone reading this who has a bank account in UK into which I could pay say £5 and then a payment could be made to DTAC via a Thai ATM.

I had to do the same before but my contact in Thailand who helped then is not now available. This approach seems easiest, as I can pay at once, and I don't have to explain to someone else by text or phone.

If so, I can then advise my Thai card no, and if required my UK cell phone no and real name and email address. My home laptop is not working at present, so I may not give a reply to a PM or post for 1-2 days, as I currently have to use library for internet access.

Many thanks. I could also buy a drink in return when I do get to Thailand, hopefully in October.

Have you tried asking DTAC if you can buy some extra time using some of your existing balance? Failing that let me know I'm from the UK but live in Bangkok and would be willing to help you out

Do it all online

Go here and sign in or sign up http://eservice.dtac.co.th/bp3/bin/DpromptIndex?lang=E

Then go to Day Give-Away Service and swap some credit for time. Something like Bt18 for 180 days. Very little.

You might have a problem if you don't already have international roaming as you need to receive a OTP (One Time Password) to get into that area.

Another way is to go to your (if you have one) SCB bank website and top up from there. Other banks also allow you to do this but some require you to put in a OTP (such as Kasikorn) or register the phone number with the bank.

Another way is to get someone to get a replacement SIM and extend that way.

You can give away some at least of your credit with *112*[recipient number]*[amount e.g. 100]# (if you have had the number 3 months or more).

Actually phoning DTAC and getting roaming put on if not already is easy.

Cool Water Palace - what did you do in the end ?

As you have PAYG my advice would be best to have the Happy Simple promotion as this gives you 1 year of validity with every top-up. If you register on the website mentioned you can enable International Roaming free of charge, change promotions and you can also use your credit to buy extra validity, as has already been mentioned.

If you still have problems let me know as I can top-up Happy PAYG SIMs from my DTAC post pay SIM. It may also be possible to do a credit transfer from other pre-pay sims. I have one but havent checked this part out...

The Happy Simple SIM promotion is currently scheduled to end in September this year. It is one of DTACs best for keeping a SIM alive for a long time. The DTAC Happy promotion for North Eastern (Isaan) residents (forget the name) also gives you a years validity with eack top-up. The smallest to-up that can be done is 20bt.

I've had a post pay SIM for 4 years now and whilst it has cost me from 0 to 300 baht a month, I get to keep the no I have and can pay using a credit card online. I tend to pay in advance when the exchange rate is good. Best was the zero promotion which cost me nothing a month. Now I'm on a 56bt a month promotion - I just wanted the lowest cost whilts not in Thailand. Through the website you can send 50 sms per month free to DTAC nos and to other Thai networks for 2bt per SMS, I think. And if you have international roaming you pay nothing to receive sms sent to your Thai no where ever you are...

Hope this all helps
