marshbags
PATTAYA GETS B17M WATER PROJECT BOOST FROM JAPAN Writer: JERDSAK SAENGTHONGCHAROEN CHON BURI : The Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (Meti) has offered Pattaya City financial support of about 17 million baht to fund a water recycling project. Wissanu Playanont, chairman of a strategic advisory committee on Pattaya's sustainable development, said the beach town had long suffered water supply problems which had hurt the tourism industry. For this reason, Meti's funding of US$500,000, or about 17 million baht, for a wastewater treatment project came as a blessing. Under the project, the city would recycle its 100,000 cubic metres per day of wastewater as raw water, in hope of addressing water scarcity. Mr Wissanu said the city would hire experts to conduct a feasibility study. Results are expected by February. -- Bangkok Post 26-07-09 For the rest of the article please go to........
