I use anapril 20 mg/day since I had a TIA 11 y ago. I also used 15 mg/d amlodipine but I reduced it since in Thailand (7 y) till 5 mg/d and the bloodpressure is not going up. 110/70, sometimes 120/80. Well, no more working, no stress, low calory food, more excercise, higher temperature. I feel OK like never before.

But the cardiologist tells me (in poor English) that I can never stop or reduce anapril. Can anyone please tell me what this stuff does ? I read the internet about this stuff but do not know all those technical words.. I am no medic or nurse.

Thanks.

Basically they have a relaxing effect on blood vessels. This lowers the blood pressure, and also specifically provides more blood flow to the kidneys. This increased blood flow to the kidneys is considered to have a protective effect.

I am guessing that you have other medical issues. Your TIA was at a relatively young age.

You could read more about it on wikipedia if you are interested, although I don't know if you'd understand all the medical terminology.

Good luck!

Thanks. I had the TIA when I was 52. My BMI then was 32, now 27. I will look at Wikipedia but all those medical words are difficult, even when your native tongue is English. And mine is not......

I appreciate your help. Thanks.

I am using celebrex 200 mg/day now, I am waiting for a hip replacement or hip resurfacing. I need a painkiller because of....and paracetamol does not help anymore.

I read that this stuff might reduce or strenghten the anapril, I do not find what it exactly does, if it does..... depends on the person.

Should I take a different painkiller ? Which one ? Or just wait and see.....

My blood pressure is 120/70 when active, 100/60 when I wake up. 20 mg/d anapril, 7 mg/d amlodipine. I am 62...

Thanks a lot.
