Tot Internet Samui - Big Problems Past 2 Days

Featured Replies

Anyone else noticed this, barely been able to ping beyond my router, seems problem is on off. A lot worse than usual. Is this affecting anyone else?

That started last Saturday and lasted until last night. 5 - 20 minutes no signal alternating with a few minutes signal. Now it's ok.

Well I have certainly had lots of problems over the last week. Please excuse my ignorance but do these numbers confirm it?

so is the CAT service in Central Chaweng Area - got to be infrastructural...

CAT and TTT max seem fine - fine as far as thailand goes - i.e. latency and transfer within thailand okay, international contention as usual.

I referring to the basic connectivity on TOT (platinumcyber), I can barely get onto the TOT network . I have red light (Internet) on my modem about 90% of time, comes back green for a minute or two every 30 minutes. I'm in the Choneg Mon area, was wondering if anyone having same problems that could be isolated to an exchange in the area that handles the traffic past ADSL. Diagnostics reports ADSL sync correctly (that lights shows green) and signal/attn seem normal (not great).

Rooo - they seem fine for a functioning connection.

I have biz line with TOT and over the last week or so the connection has been shockingly slow. Speed checking doesn't show anything being wrong with the line :/

TOT goldcyber

Well of what I hear, is something major will be taking place with Internet on the island by the end of this month.

Rooo, please share...

Slightly OT, Whats the procedure to upgrade to the next higher package, IIRC Im paying 590 month. Getting the internet in the first place was royal pain in the arse, had to ask the landlady to go to Nathon etc.. is upgrading a simplier process? I figure they might at least check/reconfigure the line by requesting an upgrade, TOT help staff are clueless.

As for the speed tests they are what I would expect for Thailand. Within the thailand border you can expect to get near youre quota subject to local contention and line conditions, but for example if you're not i.e. paying for 4mb and getting 2mb (2048kbit ) then its not worth worrying about as most sites hotmail, google mail, facebook, english papers, betting sites, american sites, wikipedia etc.. are hosted outside of thailand and that's where international contention kicks in and you'll get a fraction of that anyway unless you're on a biz package.

:) ...it's the final collapse

we are living togeeetha

...the final collapse... :D

Major upgrade . True ,you can trust me on this one :D .Miles of fibre optics being installed as we speak :)

Went to the TOT office in Nathon today and upgraded from the Goldcyber package to the

diamondcyber 4mb package and I have seen hardly any difference in line speed.

Last Result:

Download Speed: 356 kbps (44.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 76 kbps (9.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

Latency: 1151 ms
