Asean Economic Community And Tourism, Telecommunications, Healthcare, Logistics

Featured Replies

This question is geared towards everyone on thai visa from tourists, retiree's, business people would like a better idea on these issues. Please note this article appeared yesterday Monday July 27, 2009 in the Nation Paper. Title

PAGE 1. ASEAN LIBERALISATION TO BENEFIT HEALTHCARE FIRMS

PAGE 2. SOME SECTORS WARY, SOME EXPECT GAINS

From my understanding starting next year companies in other asean countries will now be allowed to own up to 70% company stake here in thailand the 4 sectors that are affected are

HEALTHCARE

TELECOMMUNICATIONS

TOURISM ( MOSTLY IN THE HOTEL INDUSTRY AND TRAVEL AGENCIES )

AIR TRANSPORT

LOGISTICS STARTING IN 2013

it would seem that pretty much any company or small to medium sized business will have greater competition next year. anyone this year who lacks financial strength, or competitiveness maybe be gone in a few years which competitiveness does that anyway.

questions are:

1. will this be similiar to what happened with the start of opening the EU

2. What kinds of improvements / setbacks could this have

3. Could there be a chance in the future for cross border employment similiar to what the EU has

any comments you have at all would be extremely grateful
