I have tourist visa 60 days. Now my 60 days is ended, maybe I need to go to emigration for normal 30 more days? Ore is there some other visa to get to stay more then 30 days with my baby?

If you are named on the birth certificate as the Father and you registered the birth yourself. You can get a one off extension of 60 days to visit your child.

You may be able to get a 12 month extension to live with him/her.

These are the extension rules. Look at 2.18 and 2.24.

Im the father (from Sweden) and my girlfriend are from Thailand

The Baby will be Thai. You have to register the birth at the Amphur in Thailand.

You can sort out the Swedish side of things later.

You need to obtain the 30 day tourist visa extension of stay first - at the end of that you will be able to extend another 60 days - after that (if that is not long enough) you can obtain either tourist visas (free) or non immigrant O visas based on birth certificate.

I understand that's it's very important for the father to persoanlly visit the local government office (the amphur offfice) and to personally present the documents to register the birth.

I must admit that I'm not an expert on this point, but I believe it's quite important.

Perhaps one of the members who is expert on this could share with the father what he needs to do / and needs to be careful about.

I have described the procedure for registering and legitimising your child here: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Gain-Parenta...-M-t235443.html

Do not let the hospital or anyone else do the birth registration at the amphur, do it yourself.

Congratulations!

There are so many stories…true ore not, I don’t now. I will do what the Thai rule says, and I believe there should not be any special problem I hope!

Thanks Mario for your congratulations, and you right you must go there by your self !!

Make sure they get your name in Thai correctly on the birth certificate, if this is the first time that you get it on a Thai official document. You will have to live with that name for the rest of your life for all future official Thai documents where your name in Thai is required, to avoid complications.
