Perhaps some of you remember Gor:

Panrit "Gor" Daoruang is Thailand's most famous teenager. He writes about his life growing up in Thailand. Gor became famous around the world when he started writing about his life on this website. He then later wrote a weekly column for the Bangkok Post at the tender age of only 16.

From me:

Gor has a dark secret that cost him his freedom; he was a meth addict and got a 3 years sentence.

He is due to be release soon, I did help him few time (sending money) to his trusted mentor, friend & teacher Richard Barrow, who pass it to him or help with the tuition fees of Grace (Gor’s daughter).

I never meet them, but I am sure they have compassion, and charisma, perhaps few extra spare baht from us (Thaivisa) will be welcome for Gor to start his new life?

Anyway, thank for your time & they are some nice reading in some of the follow links

Hi Richard, I think that Gor really does deserve a second chance. My own addiction brought me to hel_l, but this later turned out to be a blessing. He needs to do most of the work himself now. If he does the right things then the right thing will happen. He is obviously a talented young adult. It is up to him what he does with this. Good luck to him.

Thanks for the update regarding Gor. I had always enjoyed reading his website and am happy to see that he will be released. We all make mistakes, and I hope with this second chance, he will make a good start again.

I tend to think that most people deserve a second chance. ThaiVisa members, however, are not known for being of the same opinion.

Simcity certainly has his heart in the right place as he did indeed help out with paying for Gor's daughter's tuition at school this year. He also bought English language books and VCDs for her. She is now fluent in English even though she has only just turned six. I won't be surprised if she starts writing books in the future like her father.

It is true that Gor will be coming out of prison next month after serving his full three year term for drug possession. As some of you know he has been addicted since Junior High School but he is clean now and is keen to make a new start to his life with his daughter. He plans on going back to doing free lessons on the internet for foreigners Learning Thai and also continuing to write about his Thailand Life. He has also started writing part two of his autobiography. The first part, Gor's Thailand Life, can be bought in Bangkok and Pattaya at all the usual shops. The money from the book goes straight into the education fund for his daughter.

It is kind of Simcity to make this post, but there is no need for Gor to solicit any funds at this time. Many people were kind to send money to the prison to pay for basics like food, clothing and for bribes to pay for floor space etc. However, once he is out, he will be working again. There is no need for him to ask for any more.

Thank you.
